All Our Children? The Health and Education of Children of Immigrants
http://www.fcd-us.org/usr_doc/2007_Annual_Report_-_All_Our_Children.pdf
The centerpiece of the Foundation for Child Development's 2007 Annual Report, All Our Children? The Health and Education of Children of Immigrants is an essay by Alexandra Fuenmayor Starr. Ms. Starr writes about U.S. immigration policy for Slate, The New Republic, and The American Scholar. Her essay, "The Dividends of Investing Early: Why We Need to Help the Youngest Children of Immigrants," argues that young children of immigrants, over 90 percent of whom are citizens, will have a large impact on America's cultural and economic vitality. Investing in the healthy development of these children is critical to our nation's future.

Children & the Media - Stereotypes
http://www.pbs.org/parents/childrenandmedia/article-stereotypes.html
TV, movies, videogames and the Internet often show people in an overly simple way, giving an inaccurate idea of what they are allowed to say and do and how important or unimportant they are. This often takes the form of stereotypes — recognizable but inaccurate views of one group of people by another. Some common stereotypes show women as weak and certain ethnic groups as lazy or scheming. Challenge your child to question what she sees and hears, so she develops an eye for sexism, racism and other prejudices in mainstream media portrayals.
